Self-driving street sweepers may save money and improve performance

Street sweepers (particularly regenerative sweepers) need to move fairly slowly to provide the best surface pollutant removal . This becomes costly to pay the driver for operation, not to mention the challenge of driving as slow as 4 miles per hour. – I imagine that the boredom would be maddening. – An automated sweeper utilizing navigation similar to google’s autonomous vehicles would allow these to operate slowly and at odd hours. This is a long way away, given that even Nissan says 2020 is practical at the soonest, but especially since sweepers can be given designated routes, it may work very well, barring cars parked along a sweeper route. – Just a quick thought
